Norkos strode into the training arena with his apprentice.
"Now, although some of the council members stress diplomacy over comabt, personal experience has taught me that combat is often unavoidable. That is what we will practice here today." he dropped his shield against a wall, and picked up two dulled long swords.
"Since I doubt either of us are keen to have a limb chopped off, we'll be practicing with these." he said, as he tossed one of them to Elijah.
Norkos adopted a classic Djem So pose. "You are a user of the Vaapad style, we'll see how you fare against my Djem So."

While Norkos had considerably more experience than his padawan, he was having a tough time defending against his blade. Vaapad was a form that was not commonly used, and Norkos had little experience with it.
The hard lunge startled him, but only slightly. He managed to parry it, and roll out of reach on the follow through, but it was close.
"Not bad, but you must be careful to master the form, not let the form master you. Only then can you avoid the dark side." he told his padawan, and came back into the fight with a knee-level sweep.

As soon as he fell to the floor, the young jedi was back on his feet, he was eager to learn. And to impress his master. He somersaulted over his masters head using a force jump, and took a swing as his master was turning, but missed badly. Ending in a prime position to be defeated.

Norkos was certainly not expecting his apprentice to include aspects of Ataru into his Vapaad, and was so surprised when he jumped that he didn't turn in time. Luckily, Elijah missed, and didn't land too well. he finally came around, and lay his sword right above his padawan's throat.
"Very good, you are learning to use the unorthadox. However, you should probably choose methods that don't leave you wide open. A force sensitive would have ample time to cut to into tiny pieces, if your move didn't surprise them too much."

Elljah thought for a moment before getting back into his fighting stance for some more sparing, he decieded he would take a more defensive fighting style this time using a combination of blocks and parrys, until he caught his master off guard and he could make a strike. This would prove difficult as its almost impossible to catch a jedi of this calibre off guard.

Norkos nodded approvingly. "The best offense is a good defense." he quoted, and adopted an Ataru stance. "Let's see how true that is."
Norkos rushed towards his padawan, his sword a shiny metallic blur.

Elljah simply parried away his master's sword and skipped around to another angle hoping to get a good shot in. He decided not to and took a step backwards preparing for some more defense.
